Andrew Gillingham, Sunday Times SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PRODUCT OF THE YEAR | March 2010
The Barefootball initiative has been chosen by Johnson & Johnson’s as a 2010 legacy project. Although J&J’s involvement with the Barefootball initiative may seem an unlikely relationship, it is driven by community upliftment through employment and the reuse of post-consumer and industrial waste. “Business cannot flourish if society is not thriving and this has to be the focus of everyone in South Africa. Social initiatives that build skill and support the economy constitute the best road to a sustainable solution. Poverty is universal and its effects are pretty much the same the world over. I think though that South Africans are tapping into the talent that our diversity offers, which has led to some highly innovative programmes,” said Johnson & Johnson spokesperson, Laura Nel.

Woolworths have made a commitment to sell the Barefootballs in all W Cafe’s nationwide. Show your support for Africa and the environment and buy a Barefootball at any W Cafe. You’ll also be able to buy exclusively designed barefootball shopping bags in all Woolworths stores nationwide.
